As we approach the end of the fall sports season it is important that as a school community we recognize the hard work and commitment put into the various sports this season. The weekly highlights are based on the information provided by the coaches. If this article is missing your favorite in-season sports team, rest assured that there will be updates to follow about them until the season has ended!
Boys Soccer:

The boys soccer team most recently played against Medford on Friday, October 25th, securing a 1-0 win with a goal from Jr Christian Garcia. The boys have two games left to wrap up their regular season. Tonight, they play in Braintree, and tomorrow (10/29) they play at our home field, Leary, as they take on Methuen and recognize Seniors: Gavin Aday, Eddie Bwete, Gabe Cambara, Jonathan Chiel Velasquez, Jancarlos Gonzalez Barrera, Matthew Herrick, Zak Kefi, Christian Lopez-Martinez, Kelvin Orellana, Cea Pinelo, Jadiel Quintana, Andy Saavedra Morales, Jayden Sanon, and Jeffery Salazar on their senior night! These games hold high stakes for the team as the result of them will decide whether they make the MIAA tournament.
Girls Soccer:

The final girls soccer game of the season will be Monday, October 28th at home. The girls record as of October 25th was, 4-11-2. The Seniors recognized this season were: Talar Bedrossian, Emma Fain (manager), Micaela Guzman, Natalie Joe, Sophie Korenstein, Brook LeBrun, Daniela Lopez, Mikayla Ryan, and Kate Santolucito. Congratulations Lady Hawks!
Football:
The football team is celebrating a triumphant 49-14 win against rival Newton South this past weekend. The boys played Newton South on Saturday, October 26th, for Waltham’s homecoming game. The team recognized their eleven Seniors with a ceremony before the game. The Seniors included Juan Colon, Dane Deveaux, M’kai Felix, Alex Flores, Noah Foy, Conor Gavin, Nikolas Joannidis, Rasheed Marshall, Finn McCarthy, Sunil Peters, and Sammy Rizza.
Highlights from the game include:
- Senior Rasheed Marshall’s interception
- Senior Sammy Rizza’s pick 6
- Senior Noah Foy’s 2 interceptions, including a pick 6. He also scored on a punt return and had a receiving touchdown
- Senior quarterback Dane Deveaux and his 3 total touchdowns
- Sophomore Austin Lucente’s 13 carries for 120 yards and touchdown
Field Hockey:

Field hockey concluded their regular season on Sunday 10/27, finishing with a 6-6-4 record and #21 power ranking. The team awaits their tournament seeding that will come out on Tuesday! This is the first time the field hockey team is back in the state tournament since 2017 and 2008 before that! The girls have worked hard all season and are anxious to start their post season journey. Keep an eye out for updates and information about their seed in the tournament and the schedule for that!
Volleyball:

The girls volleyball season has come to an end with a record of 2-16. The Seniors that were recognized this year were, Ariana Bushey, Chetna Gandhi, Kayleen Mukire, Marley Nielsen, and Andrea Pomales.
