Stress With MCAS

Stress With MCAS

Ariana Alvarez

MCAS testing is coming up and with it a lot of stress. Since school is starting to wrap up and testing is going to begin, students and teachers need to start preparing for it. Students need to make sure they are well-rested, eating well, and are focused to be prepared for the test. MCAS is a “graduation requirement” and it is used to see how much progress a student is making it allows the school to collect data on students.

Freshman Associate Principal Dr. Lyons said, “MCAS is very stressful for both students and teachers and causes anxiety.” Being prepared for MCAS is a big part of taking the test because you do not want to be stressed out and anxious because it might affect your testing performance or your outcome for the test.

The most important thing is to stay hydrated and make sure your mind is actually prepared to sit in a room and test. You need to make sure you’re really ready to be in a testing mode, not just your mind but your body, so staying hydrated, being well-rested, and fed will help and your stress levels will not be as bad.

Being stressed over MCAS is not something you can prevent because testing will make you stressed, but as long as you think you are prepared, that’s what matters most. A positive mindset can help too:  if you know you can do good and stay focused during MCAS, that is all that matters.
