Ritu Shrestha is a sophomore at Waltham Sr. High School who is participating in the Talon Tribune for the first time. In hopes of joining the journalism club, she wishes to see issues that are domestically and abroad to be addressed such as social injustices, racism/systematic racism, gender inequality, economic inequality, human rights, immigration policies, education, and much more relating to prejudice against minority groups. As for her other clubs that she is passionate about, it consists of her being apart of the Asian Student Leader-Board and the Revolution Equity Council, Girls Who Code club, the Robotics team (WHS Robo-Hawks), United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), WHS Model UN, and much more. On a more personal note, Ritu deeply cares for her family and friends, which is one of the main core reasons why she has such a deep interest to write for and about the people, and to also give voice to the voiceless. As the year progresses, it is her goal to publish a couple of articles that will address and empower minority groups, and create a safer and more caring world through one story at a time.
