Dear Waltham High School,
From student to student, we want to acknowledge how scary a time like this must feel. Whether being affected by or simply hearing about subjects like ICE raids and DEI roll backs, we want to assure you that The Revolutionary Equity Council will not stop advocating and caring for you.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) are fundamental parts of our incredibly diverse and tight-knit community. Waltham has and continues to thrive because of the hard work every member of its community puts in; no matter the race, ethnicity, religion, legal status, gender identity, or background. Nothing will limit the amount of work The Revolutionary Equity Council (REC) is ready and willing to continue doing.
Through RECs years of establishment, we’ve tried our hardest to foster a community that is built upon unity. Hosting school-wide events and creating safe spaces representative of our student body are things that will remain unhindered, especially in times like these.
Our connectedness promotes understanding, celebration, and compassion in the community we call home. The continual education and empowerment at this school is not only for everyone to contribute to, but for everyone to find safety in. Our varied backgrounds are not what should drive us apart, but what should create an environment rich with different perspectives and a bond stronger than any other.
The commitment REC has to your rights, your comfort, and your belonging will not waiver. Your scholarly pursuit should not have to be tainted with discrimination and hate. Please remain certain that we are working persistently to ensure equity-based issues are not only dealt with appropriately, but prevented in the future
While we work, use this as an opportunity to empower yourself and those around you. Our strength lies in our passion and our resilience.
Sincerely,
The Revolutionary Equity Council
