Best Places to Travel to in December
December 19, 2022
Try to envision your perfect winter vacation. Maybe you would like to go to a place high up in the mountains, or maybe you need a break from the cold.
If you’re a fan of traveling like I am, then you’re probably wondering about which places to visit during the upcoming Christmas vacation. Or even if you’re not going anywhere this December, it’s always good to have places in mind for future reference.
ROME
Rome is an amazing city. It has been rated as the most beautiful city in the world. There are many historical sites all over it. As you may know, Rome is the heart of where the Roman Empire used to rule many centuries ago. What’s so fascinating about it is that if you go there today, you’ll still find ruins and artwork from that time. Rome is filled with beautiful architecture such as the Colosseum, where gladiators used to fight during the time of the Roman Empire. There are also many beautiful water fountains across the city that have been carved into amazing structures. Many people go to visit those fountains and throw coins at them for a wish. The artwork there is quite impressive as well. Rome contains many museums as well as religious sites where you can find artwork from famous artists such as Michelangelo. Now, of course, can’t forget the food! Rome is located in Italy, therefore you can find a variety of Italian food there including Rome’s famous artichoke. This is the perfect December trip if you seek to go somewhere where it’s still winter. It’s a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in Boston and go explore many new places. It also enables you to feel connected to the history of the world.
COLOGNE
Cologne is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. There are many different architectural styles there, from modern to very ancient. One of the most famous buildings in Cologne is the Cologne Cathedral or Kolner Dom in German. It’s tall, dominating the skyline, and beautifully constructed both in its interior and exterior. The cathedral dates back 800 years ago and contains a crypt underneath where many kings and emperors remain buried. Cologne is also famous for its world-class museums. The most famous one is their chocolate museum, where there are exhibitions on the process of making chocolate. Perfect place for someone with a sweet tooth! What makes this city perfect for a December trip though, is its amazing Christmas market! It’s gorgeous and filled with Christmas lights, making it the perfect place to enjoy the Christmas Vacation.
EDINBURGH
If you wish to visit a place that makes you feel you’ve traveled back in time, Edinburgh is the perfect place. Filled with ancient architecture and beautiful landscapes, Scotland is the ideal place to go on a relaxing vacation. One of the greatest attractions in Edinburgh is Edinburgh Castle. Scotland has been ruled by many monarchies in the past and the castle of Edinburgh holds much of its history. It was built many centuries ago above an extinct volcano! The castle can be easily spotted above the city. You can also visit Calton Hill where there are other historic landmarks. Other great locations to visit during a December vacation are Edinburgh’s Winter Festival and Christmas market.
MALDIVES
The Maldives is an amazing place to visit if you’re seeking to escape the New England cold and enjoy a sunny beach. You can choose from a variety of resorts to stay at on the islands. They usually are built above the water, making it so that everywhere you look around, you can see crystal-clear water. There are many fun activities to do there such as going scuba diving into the beautiful coral reefs, swimming with sharks, kayaking, jet-skiing, etc. You can also enjoy eating Maldives’ amazing cultural food. If would like to exchange a snowy Christmas for the feeling of warm sand under your feet, looking out into the infinite ocean, and being close to marine life, Maldives is the perfect place for you to visit this December.
NEW YORK CITY
If don’t want to travel anywhere outside the country, New York City is a great option. Not only, it’s a close trip but it also looks beautiful during Christmas. There’s no place quite like New York to get you into the Christmas spirit. You can visit the Christmas tree and ice rink at Rockefeller Center. Or you can watch the Nutcracker at NYC Ballet. You may also go to Christmas Markets or Times Square. There are also amazing winter foods there. Everywhere you go, there are Christmas lights and decorations. If it snows, the trees at Central Park will be coated in shiny white, making it an oasis to walk around. There’ll be Christmas songs playing, and the hustle and excitement of everyone preparing and buying gifts for their family celebrations. All the noise and craziness of New York add a nice touch to the merry season.
HAWAII
:
Another great place to visit is Hawaii. It’s another great place to go when escaping the cold winter here in Boston. Hawaii is a gorgeous island with impressive volcanoes, beaches with wonderful sea waters and marine life, and also amazing tropical food. Hawaii is a great place for surfing, hiking, and scuba diving. Despite having amazing beaches, Hawaii also has great waterfalls and jungles. Traveling there means you get to connect with nature, as well as marine life such as dolphins, manta rays, and sea turtles. The sunrise and sunset there are also beautiful to watch. It’s overall a great place to visit in order to distract your mind and relax from your busy life back home.
WHY TRAVEL?
There are many benefits to traveling. It helps release stress, allows you to meet new places and new people, and provides you with fun experiences. Even if you can’t get away during the winter break, or you can’t afford a trip right now, these are still great places to visit any other time during the year. There are fascinating things about each of these locations, and if you get a chance to visit, do not miss the opportunity to go see these places. Nonetheless, making trips to distant cities can be very expensive and so I want to emphasize that there are great places to visit near you. It’s still possible to make fun and relaxing trips to places closer to you. Either way, I hope you’re encouraged to seek an adventure, go sightseeing, and visit new places that interest you.
